"Now this, monks, is the noble truth of suffering: birth is suffering, aging is suffering, illness is suffering, death is suffering; union with what is displeasing is suffering; seperation from what is pleasing is suffering… in brief, the five aggregates subject to clinging are suffering.”

2006 Four Foundations of Mindfulness Retreat: Daily Life

Bhante Gunaratana

Bhante Gunaratana concludes this series by noting the pivotal nature of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.  The Buddha looked at the world in an analytical way and described reality.  This reality is reflected in the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.  Our life is like our university.  It is important to seriously pursue our practice using the eight life-time precepts to train ourselves with a goal of continuing to improve and purify ourselves, and eradicate clinging.
