Items to Donate


People often want to bring items with them to donate when they visit. Because people want to donate useful things, we provide this list of things that we use on a regular basis or need at this time.

New to the List:

  • candles for the alter: 10" or 12" white taper candles
  • Honey

Food:

Please contact the kitchen manager at to find out exactly what sort of food is needed at this time. Generally, we can use the following items:
  • whole grain bread, cheese, whole grain cold cereals (low sugar), granola, crackers, crystallized ginger, salad dressing, vegetable oil, peanut oil, wheat germ, oat bran, cream of wheat, jams (fruit), raisins, prunes, dried fruits, nuts (low in salt), sunflower seeds, peanut butter, tahini, canned beans (garbanzo, black, kidney) , whole tomatoes (canned), tamari sauce, brown sugar, honey
    Please note: The WV Health department has informed us that according to FDA regulations, we should not serve imported canned food.
  • beverages like fruit juices, vegetable juice, unsweetened or regular soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, hot chocolate, unsweetened cocoa, Ovaltine, Horlicks, malted milk, powdered milk, non-dairy creamer, tea (black, green and herbal teabags)

Medicine and Household Items

  • Benadryl
  • Advil or ibuprofin
  • Hand Soap

Things not needed:

  • any paper products including toilet paper and paper towels
  • any size disposable or rechargable batteries
  • bath towels
  • balsmati rice
  • Cheerios
  • coconut milk
  • tooth paste
  • bar soap
  • Q-tips
  • garbage bags
  • hand lotion
  • band-aids
  • incandescent light bulbs
  • dishwasher detergent
