Bhavana Legal Fund Accepts Donations in Moving Powerline Away From Monastery

Thank you for your continued support in aiding our efforts in moving the proposed TrAIL Co. 500kv transmission line moved off and far away from the Monastery’s property. Your support in this effort is critical to our successful protection of the Monastery and the work we have carried on here for nearly 25 years. This case will come up for a final hearing before the West Virginia Public Service Commission in January 2008.  With your continued support, we are prepared to present our argument in a manner we believe will conclusively demonstrate the Monastery’s need for the protections we are requesting.

Bhavana Forest Monastery has hired legal counsel to represent us in this case.  We are also collecting supportive data and expert witnesses to aid our lawyer as he builds a convincing argument as to why the Monastery should be protected from the encroachment of this massive powerline. Bhavana Society is known far and wide as a valuable spiritual refuge, a precious gem, which should be spared from this powerline intrusion.

The Board of Directors and the friends of the Monastery have set up a protection fund to help defray the inevitable expenses involved in pressing our case. This fund will help us to secure the safety and integrity of the Bhavana Forest Monastery for years to come. If you would like to contribute a donation of any amount to support this effort it will be greatly appreciated and wisely used. Please make donations payable to the Bhavana Society. On the memo line add:  Legal defense fund. If there are funds remaining following the successful completion of our effort to protect Bhavana Forest Monastery from encroachment by the powerline, those monies will be returned to the General Fund and used to maintain the Monastery.

If you would like to receive news about the Bhavana Society in the future, including updates on the power line situation, please visit this page on our website and subscribe to news updates by e-mail.  You can unsubscribe at any time:
