"Just as a line drawn on water with a stick will quickly vanish and will not last long; even so, brahmins, is human life like a line drawn on water. It is short, limited, and brief; it is full of suffering. One should do good and live a pure life; for none who is born can escape death.”

Teacher: Closed for Visitors

Throughout the year the residents of the Bhavana Society support the public in offering a wide variety of retreat experiences. For the months of January and February volunteers are needed to support these residents in having their own retreat. We are seeking folks who have been to at least one long retreat (no less than nine days) at Bhavana and can commit to being at our center for a week (seven days) or more to provide basic support mainly in the mornings. Volunteers can expect to spend 2-3 hours per day working, with plenty of time to read and meditate. When registering to volunteer for this retreat, please use the Visitor’s Registration form and in special needs, please let us know the last nine day retreat you participated in here at Bhavana.  Please also note, anyone wanting to stay at Bhavana longer than seven days will need to fill out a Residency Application found on our website.

Note: First time people should be at Bhavana by 4:30 p.m. on the first day of the retreat. Everyone else should be here by 5:00 p.m.. All retreats end after lunch on the last day.
Although every retreat is slightly different here is a typical retreat daily schedule.
